Does Bachmann Share Pat Robertson’s Views on Haiti?
Representative Michele Bachmann was featured on the 700 Club one day after Robertson’s divisive comments

St. Paul (January 14, 2010) — The DFL Party released this statement from Chair Brian Melendez after Representative Bachmann’s appearance on Pat Robertson’s 700 Club today:

“Pat Robertson’s comments are inappropriate and embarrassing, especially when so many Americans are uniting in spirit and service to help the people of Haiti. Minnesotans deserve to know whether Michele Bachman agrees with Mr. Robertson’s hurtful statements, given that she is such a frequent guest on his show. I call on Representative Bachmann to denounce Robertson’s divisive comments at the earliest opportunity.”

Michele Bachmann is a frequent guest on Pat Robertson’s “700 Club.” “On Thursday morning, televangelist Pat Robertson featured an interview with Rep. Michele Bachmann. It’s Bachmann’s second feature interview by Robertson in two months.” [MN Independent, 01/14/10]

Pat Robertson believes the devastative hurricane in Haiti was caused by a “pact with the devil.” “Televangelist Pat Robertson, who holds sway with many conservative politicians, said on Wednesday that the earthquake that may have killed “more than 100,000″ in Haiti on Tuesday was the result of a pact he says the country made with the devil. The country’s problems would cease if they “turned to God,” he said. Over 90 percent of Haitians are Christian, and Catholicism is the state religion.” [Minnesota Independent, 01/14/10]
