IRINA WERNING: BACK TO THE FUTURE
We've all wanted to go back. Back to our childhood when things were simple, outfits were ridiculous, and we had little to no responsibility. For a very short period of time, each of these subjects got to travel back in time as they mimicked an old photo of themselves. I feel like in many hands, this project could been a major disappointment but instead, this amazingly creative photographer (and subjects) has turned this series into something I can stare at for hours. Funny, nostalgic and downright smart- it just doesn't get better than two grown men squeezed into a bubble bath.
This one is of the artists parents and I have to say, it just may be my favorite...

SKATEBOARD ART BY APPARATU & ALEX TROCHUT
I've always had a soft spot for skateboards and skateboarders alike so when I stumbled upon these gems I nearly flipped my kit (sorry, a little skate humor). These gorgeous pieces of art combine all of my favorite things: drips, skateboards, and metals. Each piece is made from ceramic and is coated with colored glaze, silver, gold or aluminum plating. Artwork for the hipster set has never looked so good.

MARK EVANS LEATHER ART
When my friend, Joe Brooklyn, showed me the work of Mark Evans, it was hard to believe that one man carved these images using just a knife. Mark's love of carving began as a young boy when he used to carve designs into trees in the Welsch Mountains. He studied fine art in London, but throughout his life, he continued to etch drawings out of leather using knives, sharp glass and other objects. Mark carves beautiful images out of cowhide using only a few different knives. It can take him weeks or even months to finish one image, but with a lot of time and patience, he etches his stunning masterpieces that are unlike anything I've ever seen.
