DESIGNER BONDAGE: VERSACE F/W 1992

If any of you can track down the actual runway version of the F/W 1992 Versace show, I really need it.  It's an emergency.
Not really, but I would really like it.

BLAKE LIVELY IN VOGUE

I never thought that I would consider a Blake Lively outfit to be inspirational, but reading a summertime Vogue can do that to a girl. Don't blame me, blame the teensie white Versace mini dress.

SPRING 2010 ADVERTISEMENTS

Let me start off by saying that I am experimenting with the no caps thing. I am not happy about it as I actually write in all caps in real life. But at the end of the day, if no one can read the blog, then what the hell is the point.

Since fourth grade I have been making inspiration books composed of magazine tear-outs. I have a binder for each year since 1994 and nothing makes me happier than looking back on old advertisements. Sure, Tavi (for the record, I think she's great) posted pictures from her new Prada book of the Spring 2000 ad campaign with the lipstick skirts, but does she actually have it? Well, I do. I'm not bragging or anything, but as a 9 year old I was way ahead of my time and should be an inspiration to fashion icons everywhere.

Every season I look forward to the new ads and can't help but wonder what I will think of them in the years to come. Looks fade, designers go bankrupt, and magazines disappear, but the pages enclosed within sheet protectors and labeled by designer, magazine, year, and season...well those will last forever.

VERSACE PRE-FALL 2010

THANK YOU, DONATELLA, FOR HEARING MY SILENT PLEA FOR MORE LIQUID LEGGINGS, OR SLUTTY SCUBA PANTS- AS MY MOM LIKES TO CALL THEM. I BOUGHT MY PAIR OF PVC PANTS A FEW YEARS AGO AND I HAVE TO ACTUALLY MAKE AN EFFORT NOT TO WEAR THEM. THEY WORK PERFECTLY WITH NEARLY EVERYTHING IN MY WARDROBE, AND WITH THE 70'S SNEAKING UP ON US, I CAN'T WAIT TO PAIR THEM WITH A SHAGGY COAT AND GOLD BOTTOMED PLATFORMS. BUT ENOUGH ABOUT PLASTIC PANTS..

VERSACE'S COLLECTION FOR PRE-FALL 2010 IS UNDENIABLY SHARP. INSPIRED BY JAPAN, THE COLLECTION MARRIES VIBRANT CRAYOLA COLORS WITH PASTEL FLORALS. IN THE WRONG HANDS, COMBINING THESE ELEMENTS COULD BE AN UTTER DISASTER, BUT DONATELLA PROVES THE WHOLE CAN BE GREATER THAN THE SUM OF ITS PARTS.
