Good Article About Right-Wing Xtian Ministry's Anti-Gay Crusade

Jarrett Terrill in the South Florida Gay News:

Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale has been leading the way in the anti-gay movement in America for over 20 years. During a better economy, they built themselves quite an empire with the big donations that homophobia generated. The huge gleaming white steeple which can be seen for miles in Broward County stands testament not to Christ, but rather to an anti-gay and anti-liberal agenda.

However, this is a different economy than what Coral Ridge enjoyed during the Clinton administration. Churches which are favored by the hard-right in America must now work twice as hard for their piece of the pie because their flock are more likely to donate money to a Tea Party political campaign than they are to stock the coiffeurs.

CRM has responded to this shift toward the far right by producing Tea Party campaign material thinly disguised as pastoral outreach or mission work. Their hundreds of internet videos, television programs and radio spots clearly define for viewers exactly who they should vote for and against in order to obey God’s commandments.

CRM’s propaganda features frequent appearances and interviews from Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, former Louisiana legislator Tony Perkins—head of the notorious Family Research Council, and Matt Barber—the Allstate Insurance Security Manager who was fired for being an anti-gay extremist and went on to become an Associate Dean at Liberty University.

Bachmann appears in this promo for a Coral Ridge "special":
