The Minnesota-Bachmann Victory Committee PAC was suddenly terminated July 13, a week after DumpBachmann’s exclusive July 6 report that Bobby Thompson, a $10,000 donor to the PAC, was wanted by attorneys general nationwide in an investigation into his allegedly fraudulent veterans organization.
PAC Treasurer Daniel G. Puhl filed the termination papers with the FEC on the same day that Bachmann’s finance director, Zandra Wolcott, left the campaign abruptly.
It’s not known whether investigators have contacted the Bachmann campaign regarding the whereabouts of Thompson. The Bachmann campaign did not respond to an inquiry about Thompson.
The Minnesota-Bachmann Victory PAC reported total receipts and disbursements through June 30 of $268,455 each, for a zero balance at the end of the 2010 Second Quarter reporting period.
The PAC claimed operating expenses of $147,094. That includes such items as:
$20,672 to Elliot Aviation Flight Services, Moline, IL, for air transportation.
$948 for one room at the downtown Minneapolis Hilton Hotel and two other rooms at the rates of $644 and $546 a night.
$54,201 to the Hilton Hotel for event space and catering
$25,000 to Fundraising Associates, Edina, MN
The PAC hauled in $100,729 for the Bachmann for Congress campaign and $20,631 for the Republican Party of Minnesota in its nearly five-month existence.
Are the wheels coming off the Bachmann “fundraising juggernaut”? Does Zandra Wolcott or Daniel Puhl know the whereabouts of Bobby Thompson, Bachmann’s $10,000 donor-on-the-lam?
