So last night was kind of a big night for me. I attended my very first red carpet movie premiere, and it just so happened to be the biggest movie of the summer. Eat Pray Love debuted at the legendary Ziegfeld theatre here in New York City. The movie was actually quite enjoyable, even for someone who didn't read the book, and the cinematography was pretty incredible. I was in Rome a few months ago and watching this movie brought back beautiful memories of the colors, food, and aura of the city.
Speaking of aura's: "Your aura is purple!!!!" Yes people, Billy Crudup, the golden god himself, was in attendance. Also in attendance were: Julia Roberts, Javier Bardem, Mike O'Malley (GUTS!), Ryan Murphy, Richard Jenkins, Eddie Vedder, Josh Brolin, Kyle Machlachlan, Phillip Bloch, Zachary Quinto, and my favorite Food and Winer Gail Simmons. There was actually one point where she was standing next to Julia Roberts and I gasped, "Oh my god, Gail Simmons!" My friend Dan (who is awesome by the way & brought me to this event) and I spoke to her towards the end of the evening and she couldn't have been more charming, despite the fact that we bombarded her while she was eating.
Speaking of eating, the food at the after party mimicked the food shown throughout the movie and it took all of my will power and restraint to not put some of the cheese in my purse. There was so much of it!! The after party was at the historic Metropolitan Club and I think Dan and I were even more excited to go to "that place right around the corner from Barney's" as we were to go to the premiere. When we first walked in, we grabbed some drinks and oysters and watched as the room filled up with very important people. Before we knew it, we were standing less than 2 feet away from Julia Roberts as she ordered a drink (definitely a vodka tonic). She flashed her signature smile as she chatted with fans and seemed exactly, dare I say it, just like the person she is on the big screen/small screen (Friends "Susie Underpants" shout out!). The only difference is that in person, she is less like your best friend and more really really hot.
Which reminds me, I have a bone to pick. Hey, James Franco, where the hell were you last night? Let me guess, were you working on a new novel, writing a paper, curating a show, or rehearsing lines for your role on General Hospital? I know that you're super talented and your face may be the cutest thing since teacup pigs, but I bought a new dress because you were supposed to be there, so yea, you owe me some money.
