ABC News has learned that Bachmann, R-Minn., also is seriously weighing whether to seek the Republican nomination for president in 2012.
TPM:
Keep in mind that the last time Bachmann decided to run for a higher office -- going from state Senate to the U.S. House in 2006 -- she said that she and her husband fasted for three days, praying for confirmation from God that He was indeed calling them to do it.
As Bachmann told a friendly mega-church crowd during that campaign: "And after -- along about the afternoon of day two -- He made that calling sure."
Hart Denburg at the City Pages Blotter suspects another motive:
Or maybe it's just a publicity stunt. Bachmann's demonstrated that she knows how to ride the crazy train for headlines, and then rake in the campaign contributions that follow. As a result she's sitting on a mountain of cash left over from the 2010 election cycle that could start boosting her national visibility.
A serious run for President would be a disaster for Bachmann. She has too many skeletons in her closet... and Team Dump Bachmann has archived nearly all of them... just a few off the top of my head:
Bathroomgate.
Bachmann & the Pod People.
Bachmann's fundraising and prayers for Bradlee Dean - Karl Bremer has more recent info on the financial shenanigans of YCRBYCH here and here.
Bachmann's ties to sham charity U.S. Navy Vets... just curious how long she'll keep that photo of USNV, and pod lobbyist Edwin Cain on her Congressional website...
The Fabulous Marcus "First Husband" Bachmann.

I'm sure our regular readers will remember more... and you are welcome to put them in the comments.
The biggest skeleton in Bachmann's closet has to be her letter requesting a pardon for convicted money launderer and Petters Ponzi associate Frank Vennes Jr.
Perhaps Bachmann wants to be President so she can give that pardon to Frank Vennes herself?
