Have Bachmann & Palin Jumped the Shark?

DB reader Anna:

Bachmann and Palin can't continue to play the victim card. Here Carlson tries to do it for them, as does O'Reilly. Right now Palin and Bachmann are using third party proxies to do their "I'm the victim" act, because if they show up to do it personally they come off as whiny and hypocritical. After all, Giffords is the victim. Christina Green is the victim. Other victims are still in the hospital. The contrast couldn't be any sharper.

The old game won't work anymore. That's why they are staying away from the media. "I'm the poor victim" is the only game they have to play (along with the hate rhetoric).

They are toast. Neither one has the ability to speak intelligently on substantive issues. The violent rhetoric/ rants against government was their only schtick. If they can't rebrand themselves they are done. Kaput. The mainstream will no longer listen to them . . . they jumped the shark.

The worst (for them) is that this isn't going to go away. The public will be following Gifford's recovery for months, and then there will be the lengthy court proceedings and prosecution of the shooter. This story will be in the headlines for many months to come.

Bachmann and Palin have a big PR problem, and they need to rebrand themselves. Bachmann might be able to do it, but I think Palin is in complete denial (see her statement) and will become increasingly marginalized by the public and media. Bachmann is also losing her platform.
