Clark Campaign Scores Direct Hit on Michele Bachmann (R, BP)

And the Republican Party of Minnesota is squawking about it.

Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Tony Sutton today issued the following statement regarding Tarryl Clark’s new attack ad against Rep. Michele Bachmann.

“Taxin’ Tarryl Clark has no credibility when she says she is standing up for the Sixth Congressional District, and her new dishonest attack ad against Rep. Bachmann isn’t going to fool anyone. Michele Bachmann has consistently stated that those responsible should and will pay for the cleanup of the Gulf. The fact is Clark has consistently voted to raise taxes on hard working Minnesota families and businesses. No matter how many false attack ads she buys, Taxin’ Tarryl won’t be able to obscure her record as anything but a big spending liberal who championed ObamaCare, backed the failed stimulus and voted to raise gasoline taxes, the metro wide sales tax, license tab fees and income taxes.”

The Truth: Rep. Bachmann Has Consistently Said BP Needs To Be Held Accountable

“Bachmann called for an investigation into a special environmental waiver given to BP by President Barack Obama's administration. ‘We have to have an investigation to find out what happened and make sure it never happens again,’ Bachmann said.” (Jason Hoppin, “Michelle Bachmann files to run for a third term in congress,” Pioneer Press, May 24, 2010)

Rep. Bachmann: “BP clearly is at fault here. They need to pay every last dime of damage and that's what needs to be done.“ ( “John King, USA”, CNN, 6/16/10)

Truth hurts.
